Sasurai no Taiyō Song Collection (1971)
さすらいの太陽 ソングコレクション
=======================================
What is this?
-------------
Many different songs and cover versions were written for the anime TV series
"Sasurai no Taiyō" (1971, Mushi Prod.). As of now, apart from the OP and ED,
none of them were ever released on CD.
Fortunately, the anime is available on a DVD box set in Japan ("Sasurai no
Taiyō DVD-Box", release date: 29/09/2004, code: XT-1601~5 and there's a 2009
cheaper price reissue, release date: 27/09/2006, code: XT-2317~21).
As part of the DVD extras, all the songs recovered from the original recording
tapes were released on disc 5. That's a total of 31 songs, including some
variations of the same songs. This torrent contains them all ripped as FLAC.
On the DVD, each song has a different picture with its title and an
illustration. I've put them in the "Images" folder as raw PNG files.
The cover image was found on Amazon Prime's website via a Google Images search.
What's missing?
---------------
Many more songs and variations that can be heard in the TV series aren't
present on the DVD extras. Also, the karaoke version of some songs
although part of the original tapes are not on the DVD, according to its
booklet.
The OP TV size with the narration at the beginning is available on CD in
"虫プロアンソロジー 1963~1971" (Mushi Prod. Anthology 1963~1971, release date:
21/11/1998, code: AYCM-625, it has a 2001 reissue, release date: 24/10/2001,
code: MECB-2009).
Horie Mitsuko did a cover of the OP song and is available on an album called
"堀江美都子 レア・グルーヴ・トラックス" ("Horie Mitsuko Rare Groove Tracks",
release date: 19/11/2014, code: COCX-38855).
The ED song by Mitsuko Horie, long version, was released on CD, but is not in
this torrent. This song, "Kokoro no Uta", was later re-recorded in a piano
version in 2004 for the 35th anniversary of Mitsuko Horie's career in
"堀江美都子BEST 心のうた 〜癒しの歌声〜" ("Mitsuko Horie Best Kokoro no Uta
~Natsukashi no Utagoe~", release date: 10/20/2004, code: COCX-32945).
The BGM of the series (75 tracks in total according to the DVD booklet) have
not been released to this day. They were composed by Taku Izumi (Gegege no
Kitarō seasons 1 and 2, Mahō Shōjo Lalabel, Soreike! Anpanman...). Let's hope
they get an official release soon.
Why are the sound levels different?
-----------------------------------
The sound volumes are a bit low when compared to CDs. This is due to them
originating from DVDs. For the sake of preservation, I decided not to apply
any processing to the files. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
