Maybe use potplayer or MPC-HC for better output. As I see the subs are big enough. @leosmileyface

In VLC, to make subs larger: Ctrl +P, bottom left click All (to see all settings), scroll down to go to video/(subtitles/OSB), click tiny triangle arrow to open cascade list, click Text renderer, on right side increase Font size in pixels to 50 (suggested) or which ever size you prefer.
