Pardon my ignorance, but why are these files so large? Is this some sort of massively multi-channel recording? An uncompressed redbook audio CD would have a ceiling of 700 MB. FLAC should be substantially less than that...
@nothingtoseehere CD FLAC is 16 bit 44.1 kHz. This is a WEB release from an online music seller (MORA). These files are 24 bit 96 kHz so they contain a significantly larger amount of data. As for whether or not it's worth all this file size the answer is probably not.
@Someguy463 because if you're an audophile and you have expensive gear such as professional studio headphones and a very good sound card or DAC, you can enjoy 96kHz/24bit at its fullest.
So I just compress them to 44.1kHz/16bit to listen to them on my phone and keep the Hi-Res in another folder in my hard drive
